these are not drag cars there road/track cars, not drop the clutch at 7000rpm car. the clutch is the fusable link between engine and transmission. which would you rather go out?

not to be mean or anything but if you bought a $30k car and can't afford a few grand for maintenance then you can't afford the car either. $30k is a SICK amount of $$$$ and you have to be making pretty good jack to afford that........that's why I still drive the cheapies

From the sound of it you drive TOO hard. Take it in and see if they can help you and learn from this so you can avoid a next time. Also start saving for an ACT or similar clutch if you can't discipline yourself to drive within the capabilities of the stock clutch.

Sad day for you my freind..
The service department is going to pull the clutch components out and see how you basically MAULED the clutch and then then will say..
SOORRY>
Hate to sound negative but the evidence will be revealed..
Plus, you basically admitted to racing, track time, etc on this board.
is watching!!

This is the reason so many people are getting rid of their Evos. When you buy these cars, you have to consider that you'll be replacing tires frequently, brake pads frequently, synthetic oil changes, etc. etc. I feel for this guy, but take it as a learning experience. Maybe someone out there knows a good clutch deal. I heard the ACT clutch is pretty inexpensive and well-made.

Sorry to hear about your clutch, but I don't understand how you all are replacing your clutches so early. I have almost 12K on my car and the clutch grabs just fine. This is my everyday car that I take to work, to the track, and beat on everyday. I think what it boils down to is that you don't know how to launch your cars or that you all do it at just about every light you come to. I've launched my car numerous times and the clutch feels just like ti did when I drove it off the lot. The only thing I see doing the clutch in is launching it, not driving it hard.
Good luck.
I want to replace my clutch when I'm making too much power and the stoker won't hold it, not when I don't want to replace it.

I agree with everyone else is not going to cover a burnt clutch it is considered a wearable part what you can do is check around on websites because for somestrange reason mitsu wanted 900$ to do my clutch( which i still haven't had a problem with but they swear that i burnt my clutch) but i know i have found a few sites that sell the complete factory clutch for 300$
i-m-racing.com is the best one i have found
but there is also lancershop.com and machevo.com but as with anything i would suggest that you shop around

I have to agree with Chirs, mitsupwr, et al.
If you're going to drag this car, you have to realize that at some point, either a clutch or tranny will go out. apparently purposely made sure that the clutch would be the first thing to go (which is good. clutch = $$, tranny = $$$$).
Now if you're just daily driving the car, and tracking it (as in performance driving conditions, not dragging) then you'd have more than a justified position to demand warranty repair.
I've been told many a time, one bad drag-style slip can kill a clutch, one bad drag-style drop can kill your tranny.
Remember, the Evo is a rally car. Yes it has an amazing 1/4 mile time, but that doesn't mean it will hold up to repeated thrashings. It was designed and built to be at home on the open road, or in the dirt.
