TurboSmart dual stage MBC

Anyone have any experience with these? I have searched and only found a few threads but only one of those threads had 1 response which was fairly useless. So I was wondering if anyone had one and how they liked it. Benefits, draw backs? I ask because I'm going to have a tune for E85 and 91oct and it seems like a good, fairly cheap way to easily switch back and forth between the two boost levels.

Get a Perrin EBCS, and let your tuner do the alt map setup for 91 and E85. Boost can be control via Tephra Mods and Ecuflash, which the tuner should know about.

Not going back to ECU controlled boost. I bought the car and it had a Greddy Profect Spec I on it. Max it would let me boost on the stock turbo was 25psi. If it won't boost to atleast 30psi with the FP Red and 18psi actuator, I have a hallman pro that can be installed in it's place, if it will let me go past 30psi I'll keep the Greddy. I was just looking at this for ease of changing between hi and low boost with changing fuels.

Also, anyone by chance know if the turbosmart dual port will hold up to 35psi? It's either that or a Tial 50mm. Just curious, I'd rather go with atleast a partial recirc but once again, it's whatever.

Maybe its the Greddy! My friends and I use the Perrin. Ran 30+ psi on ecu-controlled boost like a charm.

Greddy EBC lets you boost a certain amount in relevance to the wastegate pressure. Stock wastegate spring is something like 9lbs, im sure my 18lb FP will let me boost over 30psi, but this is not what the thread was made to discuss. I'm not going back to ECU controlled boost, as the car hasn't been since I've bought it.

I wouldn't run anything but ECU boost. The Greddy part was not ECU controlled, it was just an electronic boost controller. With correct ECU controlled boost you can easily run over 25psi on the stock turbo

??? trackin, i know greddy is not ecu controlled boost.. i'm not on stock turbo, and i want more than 25psi.

MODS--please delete this thread..

Unless you've got input on the boost controller mention please refrain from posting. I'm not going back to ECU controlled boost.

Do you not understand how easy ecu controlled boost is? You were complaining you could only run 25psi on stock turbo so I gave you a very simple example of how badly it was set up on your car. ECU controlled is simple and much cleaner.

i understand it is easy... but i don't have the stock solenoid, im not going to hunt one down to buy when I already have a Hallman MBC that can be installed, and a Greddy EBC already installed. I said the Greddy couldn't boost over 25psi with the stock wastegate spring, I'm betting it will boost well over that with the 18psi wastegate and FP Red that is goin on the car. JUST IN CASE.... I was curious if anyone had any info on the TurboSmart dual stage as a quick way to change between high and low boost. That is all. I am fully aware the Hallman will allow me to boost over what i need, just don't want to have to keep getting out and turning the knob to fine tune where I want the boost when switching from high to low boost (i am aware of the cockpit add-on, and that may be the solution if i switch to the Hallman). I am fully aware that there are plenty of 3-port boost control solenoids that I can buy and hook up to control through the ECU...

But, I did not make this thread asking for opinions or suggestions on ECU controlled boost solenoids, I made it asking if anyone had experience with the TurboSmart Dual Port... that is all.

I have a turbosmart dual stage mbc. Works great. Most high hp cars run mbc's anyways I had a hallman too but switched to E85 and wanted that hi-low switch on the fly. Good luck!
