if it is a exhaust leak, is it still safe for me to drive around, at least very carefully?

Almost sounds like something rattling around. Heatshield maybe?

 

Sounds like a heat shield vibrating against exhaust or something else. Would definitely check them all and make sure none have vibrated loose.

 

lol it was the heat shield, and a loose bolt. it scared the crap out of me. haha
