Trade in value now??

So i am having a hard time trying to sell my evo and might just trade it in for a last resort since my move to CA is coming soon

I was thinking of trading it into a honda dealership so i could pick up a honda for me to drive down to CA

So does anyone know a the general ball park trade in value for a 2003 evo 8 gsr w/ sunroof?

Is there anything i should know before the trade or any tips on how to get the most for the evo?

Also i heard independent used car dealerships usually gives people a better value for their car?

thanks guys

10-11k depending on mileage and condition. 10-11k would be average condition and ~100k miles

Last I heard the cash for clunkers deal hit all the dealerships hard with used cars, so they're short on good value used cars you might get a couple grand over BB

Just go and waste or invest 30 mins of your life. Curious on this too, but only one way to find out.

Absolutely clean as if showing to a private party... dealership inspectors are people too (mostly) and will be a lot more likely to give you a decent offer if the car looks well taken care of and clean. A few years ago I was able to sell a pretty beaten up car with moderate damage just by spending about a day of work cleaning it up really nicely.

You bet! Many folks even hire a pro to really detail the car before a trade. On average, per the comments on Autopia, one makes back 2-3X the cost of the detail. From personal experience, that estimate is somewhat conservative. Good luck.

I paid 17k for my 03 8 gsr with 80k mi in Oregon. I bet private party it would be easy to get 13-14k here. Not to far from California.
