Help With Mod Plan For First Tune (On A Budget)

I already have:

- Prosport Amber / White - 52mm Boost Gauge (Mounted w/BR Evolution Column Mount Gauge Pod Kit)

- MAP/Kracka crankcase vents

- Works shifter bushings

- Ebay "Short" Shifter (without the plastic housing cut up, thus, not short) - JUNK, REMOVED.

- BLOX Racing Engine Roller Stopper

- Techna-Fit Clutch Line

- Techna-Fit Brake Lines

Now I want more power, so this is my plan to do it on a [pretty large, lol] budget.

Power Mods Plan ***************************************

Step I

- AMSOIL Universal Air Induction Filter (Part# EAAU4560-EA) w/Vibrant MAF Adapter - Installed, Here it is.

- ETS 3.5" FMIC Kit (w / UICP & LICP)

- Full Blown Cast 70mm Throttle Body (2.5" to 3" coupler required for IC piping to TB)

- MAP Rev3 Modified Intake Manifold

- MAP Exhaust Manifold Port, Polish & Coat

- CBRD BBK Full Ported

- FIC 1100cc High Impedance Injectors w/FIC Resistor Pack Delete Plug

- BR SS Fabricated, Coated O2 Housing

- TBE (BR 3" S.S. Downpipe, MIL.SPEC 100-cell HFC, Tanabe Medalion Touring Catback)

- Walbro 255 LPH Fuel Pump

- MBC (Forge UNOS)

- Wide Band O2 Sensor (AEM UEGO 30-4100) w/Logging Cable

- Gruppe-S Evo Gauge Panel 52mm (Located Above HVAC Controls)

- Prosport 52mm Clear Lense Water Temperature Gauge (Amber / White)

- Prosport 52mm Clear Lense Oil Pressure Gauge (Amber / White)

- SpoolinUp COP

- Synapse/Vibrant Synchronic DV (DV001A.005/16505A)

- Tune

Step II

- GSC Power-Division S2 Camshafts for Evolution 9 IX MIVEC

- GSC Power-Division Single Beehive Valve Springs

- ARP Cylinder Head Studs

- MAP Timing Belt Service Kit with Water Pump for Evolution 8/9

- OEM Head Gasket Evo 9

- OEM Valve Cover Gasket Set Evo 8/9

- Tune

(Other Than Power)

- Works Short Throw Shifter - Installed 1/10/2012 and REALLY nice.

- OEM MITSUBISHI RADIO RELOCATION KIT

- Clarion CZ501 CD Receiver w/Mitsubishi Wire Harness Amplifier Integration

Suspension/Handling Mods **************

Step 1 (installed 1/10/2012, absolutely fantastic mod):

- GTWorx Street/Track EVO Springs (the least drop spring available, according to my research):

- Bilstein HD Fronts (B6 Heavy Duty Gas Pressure Monotube Strut Assembly - 36mm, Mfg# 35-118435)

- Bilstein HD Rears (B6 Heavy Duty Gas Pressure Monotube Shock Absorber - 46mm, Mfg# 24-118446)

- Whiteline Rear Trailing Arm Bushing (Number of Kits Required = 1)

- Whiteline Bump Steer Correction Kit

- Whiteline 24mm Rear Sway Bar

- Whiteline rear control arm - lower inner W62951 (2)

- Whiteline rear control arm - lower outer W62950 (2)

- Alignment

Step 1.5 (July 2012):

- SOKIE TECH Gas Hood Damper Kit (Black Carbon Fiber) - $79.99 delivered - fits great (according to the installer, lol), works flawlessly, very nice for a cheap chinese/ebay part.

- Michelin pilot super sport 245/40/17s (from Hankook ventus v12 235/45/17s), fit on my stock wheels fine, rides fine, handle like a dream, brake like hell, wet or dry they are amazing, so progressive I call them "telepathic".

- New brake booster installed (replaced failed Bendix with Bosch)

- Whiteline Roll Center Kit installed.

Step 2 (December 2014):

- TRE 1.5-way Rear Diff

I think that's all, did I miss something?

Looks good i would get a 3" catback maby a tanable medalion pretty quiet and stealth and if you go with a HFC do a mil spec 100 cell they only give up a few hp to a test pipe. Oh yea do a speedelement omg bolt on filter you can even do a stealth box mod and make it look stock.

I've been listening to vids of the tanabe medalion and it sounds a little like a truck to me, and not like stock. I dunno, maybe in person it would be better.

I want to look stock too so the AMS, not sure I think it sticks out further and has a round rather than oval muffler.

After reading how many configs some people here have tried I'm thinking what the hey, save a few hundo and sound closer to stock and visually be stock.

Thanks for the ideas, that OMG sounds good.

Your mod plan is great! You should see some nice gains. As for the HFC, I am running the Mil.Spec 100 cell cat and it is awesome. Great quality and doesn't stink like my old test pipe and flows plenty.

You are definitely on the right path.

Edit: You definitely need to go with a catback, I thought I saw it on the list. You need to uncork the exhaust from the back to the front.

As for a tune, shoot Spec-Ops Motorsports a message on this site. I would rather go to an Evo specialist than the company you posted.

For the fuel pump you will want the GSS342 pump, it is the high pressure one.

Yeah ^ that pump. Here's the full product description from Map that you will need.

Walbro 255lph High Pressure Fuel Pump & Install Kit (DSM / Evo / WRX & STi) item #- GSS342 / 400-847

If you have any questions contact Adam from Map, really easy to get a hold of.

Thank you both for the specifics. This is really helpful.

Still wondering it I shouldn't just try the dang tanabe but not convinced.

It's funny I read here about all these NoVA exhaust ***** but i've been driving WRX with vishnu signature TBE (magnaflow/HFC) around here for 6 years and I LOVE to get on it all the time and i've never had a problem with the Police. but I'm in Arlington and DC mainly and the Subaru has no wing is very stealthy looking so maybe that's the diff.

I just don't want to start getting hassled by the man.

I would say do the full cat back, and for a stockish appearance look at magnaflow. Nice suttle low note with the cats in place. I love the sound of mine, but now I am on a DC downpipe w/cat delete.

all ur mods sound good for a budget build, imo ditch the megan 02, itll be fine for now on a stock turbo, but if u ever go stock appearing and up the boost to a high amount there have been boost creep issues due to the smaller hole where the wastegate opens, some people believe the hole is to small to flow the amoutn of air needed at higher boost. IMO swap it for a titek, or invidia somethin along those lines. The downpipe for the most part there all about the same make similar power to each other.

Nothing a dremel tool can not fix. I have not had any issue with my Megan o2, but I would never recommend the Invidia o2 since it has been proven to have fitment issues and not make the most power for recirculated housings.

in all honesty the only issue the invidia has is extending the 02 sensor wire, my titek v1 o2 housing has been good no boost creep issues, even tuned on my fp red last year at 26 psi. Yea ur right nothing a dremel tool cant fix, but at the same time, i see u made 401 on e85, once u start goin north of 450 either on ur turbo, or a bigger turbo you will start to have that issue unless you port it, but problem with porting the megan 02 is your taking more material out of the inside, thus makin it more likely to crack from repeated heat cycles. thats just my opinion me personally theres things i go cheap on like anyone else, an 02 housing wouldnt be one of them. but hey good luck and happy hp hunting.

Mine has been slightly ported but it won't ever be an issue because I'm done modifying once the stock clutch gets swapped out. I wanted to get the Titek o2 but came across a great deal on a used Megan

for all your needs i would suggest driving up to cbrd. 2 hr drive is not that bad so that you can get the best service you can get for your evo but your basic plan sound good already. ask for their suggestion and move forward from there.
