Spark plug question.
I know there are many things about what spark plug to use but i would like to know when to run a colder plug.
I have cams, springs retainers, o2 housing and full exhaust, also fuel pump. Should i go to a colder plug?
I see that STM's website says the BPR8ES is one step colder and the BPR9ES is for highly modified cars with lots of boost.
Should i try to go to a BPR8ES on my car? I wouldnt consider myself highly modified or running alot of boost(tuned for 26)

At your power level I would suggest a BPR8es or a BR8es.

if you had an 8 with more mods, i would say colder plugs. with a 9, stick with stock plugs unless you're heavily modified.
if it isn't broke (misfires, etc) don't fix it.

My fault. Did not realize this is for a 9.
We run these with good luck.

On a side note, I thought the BPR7es were stock and BPR8es were colder, for higher boost and such. At least thats what the parts are in the DSM world.

What made you pick up some Denso's? I have run NGK in all of my DSM's that were for many different driving purposes. They have never let me down.

There are a few problems with most of the spark plug discussions on evom.
1. People fail to understand that the Evo 9 and the Evo 8 use a different plug, and respond to a heat range change very differently (or so I'm able to surmise).
2. People when offering advice on plugs fail to say whether it worked well on an 8 or a 9.

I always try to run stock range plugs. You don't want to get to cold of plugs. On E85 at 750whp and 40+psi I am still able to run stock plugs with no problem. If you are trying to make high hp/boost on 93 than I would go a step colder. On E85 we usually run stock range.
