Kracka Crankcase Vac. kit...

I was in the process of installing this and I think it might already be on my car (in some form). Im goin to try to post a pic. Idk where this piece came from, but it looks like the valve in the kit. When you blow through the big end of this one it opens and closes if you blow through the small end. Thanks

Yes, you need both. (Well...sort of ) If you use only the MAP check valve, your idle will be way too high because the airway is much larger than the oem pcv valve. If I recall correctly, mine jumped to about 2000 rpm. I installed the MAP check valve between the pcv and the intake manifold, and the idle returned to normal. And yes, it is a tight fit, but both valves will go in that small space.

I suppose that if the air flow of the MAP unit could be reduced to match that of the pcv, then you could use just the MAP. Or, maybe the excess air could be compensated for at the throttle body. I'm no tuner, so I didn't attempt to go that route. I'm certain that some other members here would know the answer. Good luck!

I will get a pic of mine for you. Originally because it was such a tight fit, it caused the vacuum hose to kink, the dipstick to pop off, and it made an oily mess.

Honestly, I installed the MAP valve because I couldn't find an oem pcv valve that didn't leak during a boost leak test. I tried three brand new ones, and none of them would hold more than 10 psi. The MAP valve fixed that problem very nicely. Otherwise, I have excellent compression, and no oil blow-by in the turbo or inter-cooler, so I can't say that, from my experience, any other issues were fixed.

I believe that tscompusa2 has addressed the entire issue of blow-by, and crankcase vents very thoroughly. ( Search for his posts under "crankcase vents"). I'll be following his mods and recommendations for this Winter's project.
