Flashing Oil Light

Hi guys, I just bought my 2006 MR last friday. Everything has been working like a charm until tonight I noticed that the oil pressure warning light keeps popping up then going back off. I checked the oil everything is good, and the dealer also said the filter and everything was changed. Any ideas? I plan on taking it to the shop tomorrow to get it inspected, so I will bring it up to them. I'm just a tad bit worried.

Sometimes, if there is an aftermarket turbo installed, the turbo is fed oil from the oil filter housing. If this is the case, I bet the oil feed line (or some other piece of metal) is touching part of the low oil pressure switch. Verify nothing is touching this switch.

Look at this pic:

Thanks for the advice, but the car is bone stock. The only times I have noticed it is when the car is in neutral and I'm sitting in my driveway, but then again I probably wouldn't notice it while driving. Thats how quick it is. Just nervous because it a new car.

Not a problem, but I would still get under the car to verify nothing is touching that switch.

It could also be the sending unit, which is a cheap fix.

See here:

Same thing happened to mine. Ended up being low oil pressure since I spun main bearing. Doubt this may be the problem, but that was the last thing on my mind

Could be bad oil pump, bad oil pressure switch, low oil, or a short somewhere in your wiring leading to the oil pressure switch.

So, as I was sitting in my driveway after a nice cruise I decided to do a test on it. As I have the car idling I turned the a/c on. When I do that the RPMs go down and then the oil sensor pops up! Low Oil pressure I presume?

Have your shop verify oil pressure at idle
That's the only way to be certain
I've seen plenty of threads with this issue and many are resolved by changing the oil pressure switch.
Ps, It doesn't take Much pressure to close the switch.

One of the first add-on gauge should be the oil pressure.
