Or facsimile thereof.

I'd bet that its axle grease. That's certainly grease, and it will get more green as it collects more dirt.

Time to feel up some boots IMO. lol.

That's from this link btw: http://mkrd.info/how-to-s/car-cv-axl...placement.html

It's an article detailing CV and axle repair. I found it using GIS and typing "Axle Grease" in case you need more examples.

Hope that helped a bit.

I'd say black axle grease is the most common but I've seen blue like the pic and also light yellow. BTW, when a boot starts leaking it doesn't just drop grease on the ground, it flings it all over the place. So, it should be easy to tell if that is your problem.

Yea, from my peak under the car it was all over the tie brace and a ill further back. I assumed all axle grease was black so the color threw me off.

It sounds like it must be the inner boot. This is simple to repair - if you don't mind playing in grease for a couple of hours. However, you need to do it right away. Drive enough to get dirt in the boot and the axle is toast. Most of the work involves getting the axle off of the car.

Check mitsubishiparts dot something for a new boot. There are free legal? copies of the service manual on the web. Use that to dig into how to repair/repack.
