Trickle charger is nice too. One that turns on and off on its own. Used those for my motorcycles

I wouldn't just start it and let it idle though. I've read and also believe a car should be driven in order to get to full operating temp to burn off any moisture created inside the engine during the warmup phase.

I wouldn't start it at all, put some fuel preserver in the tank, run the car for 10-15 min, then turn it off, pull the battery, and let it sit. this is what I do when I store my cobalt and I've never had a problem.

Fuel stabilizer and start it as often as you can. Shoot for once a month at a minimum. When you do go to start it up let it run for a while and drive it if you can...even if its just back and forth a few times. That way ur tires won't be sitting on the same spot the whole time. I like to let all fluids get up to operating temp, which means letting the car run for about 20min. None of these suggestions are backed by any hard proof, just from my experience in parking the evo for the last 5 winters. The car will get dirty as hell too, which wont hurt anything, but cover it if you want.

Oh and if you don't mind spending a little extra money, do an oil change before you park it...that way the oil wont be too dirty while it sits...6 months is a pretty long time. The oil will basically get wasted, since you would prob change it again when ur ready to drive it again, but it cheap insurance. Again, not completely necessary, but if you really care about ur car these are the things that should be done...

Take the battery out, put it on a trickle charger, indoors off the floor if possible. Keep as little fuel in the car as possible.

-Once you start it
Put 93 oct (obvs) around 5 gallons in
Prime the engine ,take out fuel pump relay, crank it for around 20seconds

Starter up.

If ur gonna be around the car i would start it bi-monthly and take it around the block... But when i put mine down for six months i put it on jack stands and put fresh oil in the engine, and double bagged the exhaust and intake

I wouldn't start it at all... like others have mentioned, take the battery inside and put it on a trikle charger. Use a stabilizer in the fuel and let her sit.

Youre not gaining anything from starting it and if you don't run it long enough, you're doing more harm than good.

I store my cars like this for 6+ months every year through the MN winters.
