Evolution 8 BOV/Tune questions
Hi guys,
The other day I picked up a nice Evo 8 without about 100,000 genuine km's on it. The previous owner has got the car tuned to 22PSI and 206KW ATW.
The tuning shop has done the tune with a VTA BOV. I don't really like the attention this BOV attracts as it is loud as hell and you can hear it 5 streets away
I have done a bit of research and have decided to go back to a DV, after all this car is made to have a DV. Now I have a few questions.
1. I understand that VTA BOVs make the car run rich, assuming that this car was tuned with a VTA BOV on it, could changing it to a DV cause the engine to lean out to a not so good/safe level?
2. Is the Synchronic DV the way to go, are there any other worthy DVs?
Thanks guys, please go easy on me as I am a Evo/Turbo noob but I have done a bit of reading and am keen to learn.

There are a lot of good options out there, the Synchronic DV is fantastic, a friend of mine has it and swears by it. HKS, Greddy, and Forge are all great options as well. Some members on this forum have complained about bucking with the forge, but I've never witnessed that first hand and have installed a handful of those on some local evos. Alternatively, you could always go with the stock bov as it will easily hold that kind of boost and won't attract any unnecessary attention. Hope that helps!

OP, it is safe to switch as I was tuned with my HKS vta and just recently switched to a stock IX. I confirmed with my tuner that no adjustments needed to be made to the tune. The reason you would go so rich is because of all the air that you were losing and since now your not losing it any more then it will be normal.
