I had an all aluminum knob in my Mustang and it was unbearable, so I replaced it with a gripper knob from MGW (http://www.mgwltd.com/mustang_deluxe...hift_knob.html) which is wrapped in rubber and helps keep the knob cool to the touch. Of course, that's just me.
Heck, I live in Wisconsin and had the same problem with metal shifters in the summer. I'd leave work and that knob would be very hot from sitting in the sun.

Metal knob--no thanks. Besides, it doesn't make it faster....

The biggest difference between the aluminum and titanium is weight. The titanium is much heavier and feels so solid when shifting.

Sun Problems:
The pearl finish is PERFECT for anyone who's knob gets too hot in the sun. The pearl has a coating so your hand is never touching metal and the finish is much easier to maintain. That's the one I currently have in my car in the magnum size. The pics are on the site.

There is also such a thing as a knob sock. I had one for my s2k Voodoo knob. They are leather "socks" that go over your shift knob when you park it in the sun. I can look into making those available.

If a Voodoo can make you shift more consitently due to a better fit of the hand and weight, they can make you faster . The stock...nub was too small for my hand. The magnum is a perfect fit for me and I'm sure most people out there.

Remember its a direct replacement. It screws right on in seconds. No allen screws into the shifter, no gap between the boot due to a collar that hides the screws, no flying off in the middle of an autox run.

Wrong..

It could if it has a better "feel" to the driver..

Plus, depending on its weight , the momentum of the shift would be smoother and gear placement easier..

FYI...This is why most performance racers and club/track/race cars have an aftermarket or "ergonomically tailored" knob for the driver..

You have to mess around with some and get a feel for what works best on the track.

When I had the E30 M3, I had the Rob Knob and a short shifter an believe me, it made a BIG difference..(less travel, weighted knob, better throw, etc)

I personally like the EVO shifter but the "little baseball" knob could be upgraded very easily with a good result.

Good News, interest seems to be going well! I have received several orders and am currently filling them. If you would like one (or two ), go ahead and order from my website. Everything is ready to go.

Voodoo has been a legendary product in the Miata and S2k forums for years. Plus you can't beat the price and quality. Believe me, you won't be disappointed.

Happy Shifting,
smanders

yeah but it's probably cost 3x more than that also.

i would more than likely get one. i liked the Ralliart knob but $70+ for a shift knob seems unreasonable, especially when you can get something more meaningful for that much but if you have the money then go for it.

A couple people mentioned about the temperature of the knob when exposed to heat. how about in extreme cold? if you have moist hand, the knob will stick to your hands like tongue on a frozen sign post.
