Just about to buy an 8 - Few Q's inside - NJ tuners please read...
I'm probably getting an 8 tomorrow. Fully built engine and driveline. I'm pretty sure it needs a timing belt, or will need one soon. It also needs a tune, as the owner recently installed an aem ems, but is running on a downloaded map.
I'm from NJ, and I've heard good things about Ivey, as far as tuning goes. Has anyone had him do a timing belt install? I can definitely do it myself, but if the labor is only a couple hundred dollars, I'll just let a shop do it.
From what I've read on the forums so far, and seen on websites, the complete t-belt kits is about $400. Tune is about $600. Is it reasonable to think I could get both for $1300 out the door?

+1 on what is your current mileage?
Email IveyTune at their email address posted on their website. They will call you back with an estimate. You most likely will need more than just a timing belt. Also, inquire about a dyno tune with the AEM and pricing. Provide them with as much information and parts list as possible.

Actually, I had the numbers mixed up from a couple cars I looked at. The car I'm checking out has 6k on the build, and was (supposedly) built/owned by Alex at Dogbox Racing. I'm going to try to get in touch with them tomorrow to confirm this. The car has just about 10k on the build, and 70k on the body, so I'm sure the t-belt is fine.

Depending on where you are in NJ....
Petey turbo, Ivey, CBRD. Like I said, all depends on where you are in NJ and how far are you willing to travel.
Also does the AEM support readiness codes needed for your NJ inspection process??
I would get the stock ECU back in the car
