Transfer case
Quick question, my Evo is whining and the noise gets more high pitched as the rpm's rise but at highway speeds i don't hear anything or when I WOT I don't hear anything. Do I just need to change T-case fluid?

That sounds like death whine but watch the videos to compare -

If your foot is just rested on the throttle it makes the noise then when you slowly accelerate it goes away? I had the death whine in my tcase (Thanks to the dealer for the wrong fluid BTW) and i could hear the t case over the radio and exhaust. It was ridiculous. If you haven't changed the fluid in awhile it would bea good idea for sure. i think like every 7500 miles or so? some people do it ever 5k. Depends how hard you are on it. sounds like you are okay to me i mean when you have the death whine you certainly know it but a fluid change couldn't hurt

Yeah no its defiantly not as loud as the videos, the only way i hear is if I turn the radio all the way down and slowly accelerate. Does the transfer case go bad from one to day to another or does it progressively get worse?

It progressively gets worse but most cars have awd whine so if you are having to turn down the radio and actually listen for it youre probably okay. Mine is built by shep and it even whines a little so i guess it is common.
