can someone catch these scumbags...usually you associate car thieves as being low life losers. its not making evo owners look good. these cars are becoming the next civic/integra as far as having targets on their back.

You cannot shoot someone for stealing your car. Geez guys. Willing to do jail time over it? Get real.

I could but I really don't think this is the thread to do so. All I will say is it keeps the standard .45 acp mag, and its a little fatter then a .45 but its also 600 grains and shoots 1000 ft per second. It is not as powerful as a Smith and Wesson .500 but its more powerful then a .44 mag.

I agree with the guns, so take my car if you can.
I tend to be a light sleeper these days, so if I hear an odd noise I'm ready to rumble. I have a .45, ar 15, and a saiga 12ga w/20 round drum all within a couple feet of me at night. I pack a 9mm everywhere I go too.

gotcha. I have the Governor as my powerful handgun. 410 000Buck shot is a pretty insane round to come out of a handgun

Personally I can't say what is or is not worth doing to keep someone from stealing my evo, it's hard to say without being put in the situation. I do know that I wouldn't feel bad if someone had to pay a trip to the hospital after trying to stealing my car. I'm a pretty strong believer in "if you got hurt doing it, you shouldn't have been doing it". I'm usually a pretty tolerant person, but theft is one of my buttons.

+1 on the kill switch. Swapping ECUs stops valet mode being useful in a theft.

^^I have actually looked into that pistol, it would be a nice addition to my collection since I don't have a revolver yet.

Another option I had on my fiero was a kill switch that had a key pad. You type the code in and it would allow you to start the car. you can't cut wires, you cant take it off cause it is chipped into the ecu from there and its also wired to the fuel sending unit. They would spend more time tring to cut all that out and rewire the car to work someone would hear and find out and get annoyed and just go away.

basically heres what it is

Are we even on the same level as the Honda crowd for getting our cars stolen? Not once have I worried about having my Evo stolen. **** I usually don't even lock my doors.

Second i take it that you have never been robbed before or held at gun point. when you do your mind set will change i promise you that.

I was robbed last year while sitting in my evo. He held us at gun point and took over $500 dollars from me. it was a setup. i was suppose to meet a guy to do aa craigslist deal.

the main point of this story is a lot of times the robber or thieves will have a weapon of some sort to defend themselves in case **** goes bad. so if i were to wake up and see someone trying to steal my evo your damn straight they will get a bullet in the face. shoot first ask questions later. just like the saying they should have listened to think before you act!

and you say let them have the car and then deal with insurance? why should someone have to deal with that when they could stop the person? we all know insurance companies will jerk you around and in the end you still will not get the full value of the car if you got anything at all, and then on top of that most companies would more than likely drop your coverage soon after.

after i got robbed i got my permit to carry and all i can say is i dare someone to try and hold me at gunpoint or come on this private property and try and take what isnt theirs
Im saying that its just a car and im not risking life in prison for some creep who wants a joy ride. By law The only time you can legally shoot someone on your own property is if they put you or your family in a life threatening situation and you can prove such situation. By law you CAN NOT legally use deadly force to stop a non violent crime such as auto theft as a civilian. It also says that if you can retreat safely without any sort of altercation even if the criminal is armed you must do so.

Don't get me wrong, I have several guns in my home and if some scum bag wants to come into my home and threaten me, my family, or even my dog I have a mossberg that say the odds are in my favor. But if some guy breaks in my garage to get my car im not going to even put a finger on the trigger until I am 100% sure he is armed with some sort of weapon (gun or melee). but im for damn sure not going to just let him slip without a fight either way. So if hes armed yeah ill take that as if he has intent to harm whether or not he makes a move at me. But if not hes going to end up with a nasty pistol whip and an *** beating or another form of non lethal apprehension.

P.S I have never been robbed at gun point, but I have been held hostage at gun point for several hours. so i think my mind is very very clear in that area.

Your best security measures are text message notification of break in and some layered security measures to delay the SOB until you get there. Walk slowly up to the car assess the situation and use appropriate force that the law will allow. The only problem is if your out of town. :-(

That's my setup, as well, except for parking another car in front of the door. My dog (75lb Pit/Ridgeback mix) won't let anyone step on the front lawn, not to mention just walk up to the driveway. We had to pick up our mail at the PO for a few weeks over the summer, as the (temporary) mailman was afraid to walk up to the house. Literally, no one comes Trick or Treating. I'm too old to go anywhere at night that requires parking, the car is never left on the street, it is parked in front of, say, a store for maybe an hour max, and we live in a low crime area. This being said, I would like to get replacement value insurance from a specialist.

i'm jealous of you guys who live in states that allow CCW and open carry, and have the castle doctrine law. Since i live in stinky NYC, that puts me out of luck. I'd have to be a career criminal, a cop, or a celebrity in order to get a full CCW in NYC. Normal citizens are just like sheep here that have to rely on the cops for protection.

I cannot wait to move out of this dump into a state that respects the second amendment
