Hard Starting with E85, switched back to 93
I started to have very hard start on my car. It would crank about 5 key cycles before it would stumble and start up. Once it was running everything was fine.
The car has been acting like this for over two weeks. I've been running e85 for about 9-10 months now.
I even went out and change my fuel pump. Same result.
For sh*ts and giggles, I decided to flip my map switch and run 93.
To my surprise, it starts up first crank now.
Someone told me to switch to 93 every 3 months to clear up the system but I never believed him,LOL
Just wanted to let you guys know. But yeah, I do feel the power difference.

Quick question... how far can you get on a tank of e85 as opposed to 93? and also whats the price difference? Whats more efficient and not so harsh on the wallet? Thanks in advance.

Right now in my area at least, E85 is about the same price as 87 octane at the station that sells it (~$3/gal), which is about the price of 89 octane at the cheapest stations. My premium (91 octane) is around $3.25/gal at the cheapest stations, and yields 10-20% more mileage, so right now from a pure $/miles standpoint, gas is cheaper. Come the first of the year when $.45/gallon tax credit expires on e85, the choice will be pretty clear. It will still be cheap race fuel, but it won't be the obvious choice for everyday use it has been.

I had this same issue on my stock motor, car really just didn't want to start on E85 below 45F. New motor has no issues with it, pops over like it was meant to be, the coldest we've had so far here is 21F, and it went off without a hitch.
My battery is getting weak though, I think it's time to upgrade that before the temps really dip.
