Evo's Trade in/Resale Value [MERGED]

Give it 5-10 years.
This car is produced in extremely low numbers. It has a very tunable engine and reasonably strong transmission. It is also the last of its breed with a well respected and sought after engine.
I'm not saying it'll end up like the Supra, but the cars have certain similarities.

Strangely enough, I think the '03s bring relatively good money. Specially a low mileage, well taken care car. I don't know, but I'd be surprised if you could not get $20K~$22K for it. I keep reading about guys getting brand new MRs & GSRs for practically nothing, but I sure don't see those deals around Atlanta.....

South Coast price for a IX RS is only 26,999 and it was 25,999 in the summer. Should have got one of those, or a IX for 28,699, for only 4K more you could be in the best evo made.

Just wanted to share my trade-in attempt.
So I went, just out of curiosity, to see what infinity would offer me for a trade on a G35. I found a nice G35 for 31K. Fully loaded, black on black, 19" wheels and everything. After I got done drooling, I was offered 20K for a trade in on my car. A little lower than I expected, but not too too bad. I wanted at least 24. But it's ok because I don't expect getting a crap ton of money for my car anywayz.
Here's the messed up part. I went to the Nissan dealership whom just happened to have a red G35 sittin in the used car lot. It was for 27K. Even better. Hell if i could get 24 for my car, I'd be set. Thinking that Nissan would offer me a bit more seeing as though they sell slightly cheaper cars, I kinda got my hopes up a bit. These SOB's offered me 13.5K for my car. I told them they were out of their effing minds and that you couldn't buy a wrecked evo (in some cases) for 13.5. What a crock of shyt. I figured I'd have to sell my car privately but damn I didn't think I'd get such crappy offers. Even the mitsu dealer themselves only wanted to give me 16K. And my Evo is in excellent condition. 04 with 35K miles.
You guys have any experiences?

from a dealer stand point they have to buy your car at wholesale clean it up and resale it. so a dealer will never give you what you want.they are out to make money. I lie they 350z better then the g35.

Yeah i didn't plan on it either. But with the new job I just got, my commute is a lot longer and I don't wanna put so many miles on the Evo. My current job is only 3 minutes from my house. But the new job I'm about to start is gonna be a 25min drive. I'd love to keep my evo and get a luxury car. But two car notes is for the birds.
Yeah I said it wasn't too bad. But I need a bit more. I'll be too far upside down if I accepted 20K.

One of the reasons I had a change of heart about getting rid of my Evo. The resale value is horrible. People seem to get around 18-20k. I don't want to take a 10k+ loss in 2 years. Might as well just keep it and get a beater.

Totally agree. I love my car so much, but it's a shytty feeling knowing that I'm straight up stuck in it.
