my point exactly, the history mitsu has doesn't help it's resale, however the evo is one of japan's highly respected vehicles. The Supra was only mentioned as an example of how "some" imports can hold their value. What did u mean by the supra having the "toy" name behind it?

The bottom will fall out of the resale of the evo. They are already at like $5000 under what you paid for them the second that you walk off of the lot.
Nobody buys a car for it's resale value! Unless you are buying a rare classic...

This is a low volume model. It may be possible to purchase at MSRP; however, in manycases it is selling for considerably above MSRP price because of limited availability.
That's direct off www.kbb.com

Resale
Anybody who can sell their Evo for more than $23000 in a private sale is a genius. I am sure a dealer can find a sucker here and there, but there's no way any of us can expect to sell our cars for more than that.

A guy on this site had somthing come up and had to sell his evo, it had 600 miles on it and the dealer offered him 21,000 for it on trade in. another dealer offered him23,000. and you know they would turn around and ask full price. car dealers are corrupt.
I would say resale will depend on the overall reliability and #'s produced.

Also, a car depreciates the most initially and then starts to taper off over time. So yes, buying one then turning around and selling it will give you the biggest loss.

What are the residual allowances being granted for Evo leases? That will give a rough indication of the wholesale value after the lease period ends (2 to 3 years).
Then again, remember when VW was leasing new Jettas for $199 per month? VW Credit was assigning rediculously high residuals to keep the lease payments low and move the iron out the door.

I also wonder how many of these cars will survive with all the modifications and abuse, and what its reputation in the USA will be.. In other countries these cars are in demand.. I doubt people will want to pay top dollar.. But its really because the people who would be willing to buy this car may be the ones who can't afford to pay alot anyway.
Supply and demand may have some affect... Who cares, enjoy it for the car.. Not its resale.. You may be pleasantly surprised in a few years, you may not.. But would that take away from what this car is and what its lke to drive?
