Exhaust manifold removal

Hey guys,
Got an exhaust leak bc I'm missing a bolt on my turbo that mates up to the exhaust manifold. Did my searching and couldn't find a how-to on it so I guess question 1 is, is there a how to somewhere on here? Also, how difficult would it be to remove/reinstall the exhaust manifold and how many man hours would it take? Thanks!

I've done mine like 3 time or more take about an hour.

-spray all bolts with pb plaster warm the car up then let it cool and spray again
-jack up the drivers side and loosen or remove down pipe bolts
-remove banjo bolt for oil feed line (be sure to have replacement washers on hand before you start)
-clamp and remove the top rubber coolant line
-remove all header bolts
-then pull back and upward

it also helps if you dont have the lower heat shield on, but if you do then I would remove your radiator as well and you should get a new exhaust gasket as well

Exhaust Mani took me about an hour with my turbo attached, I guess it depends on how mechanically inclined you are

^not just that but things that are unforeseen.

Op I would suggest sllowing yourself a full weekend or two work days. When I done mine it wouldn't have taken more than 2 hours, but I had a bolt snap in my housing, then two ez outs in the hole trying to remove the remaining bolt after drilling it. The first one popped out. The second one I had to havve drilled out. What should have taken two hours turned into 2 days. Expect the worse and hope for the best. Good luck.

Thanks for all the input! Yeah, I've been considering whether or not this is truly a DIY task. Seized bolts are such a pain and one thing I hate about working on cars is that when you really get to doing the work, miscellaneous complications make the job much longer than anticipated. Another question, do you HAVE to remove the DP to remove the exhaust mani?

Can offer some tips or things to be aware of to help the process go smoother?

Ur just trying to remove the ex mani and not anything else?? Just undo the four on the turbo, the rest on the block, and theres a bolt on the bottom of the turbo to a bracket into the block to prevent the turbo from moving around, if u remove that bolt, the turbo will have enough play to wiggle the ex mani out... To get those hard to reach ones against the block, get ur 12mm in there and use a larger box wrench on top of that for leverage to break those hard to reach ones

as for the bolt on the bottom, when ur looking up from underneath the car, you see the 2 bolts holding the downpipe up, its the one directly next to one of em. Its stupid obvious

Truly is a simple job. Once you do it enough times it takes 20 mins to remove the entire turbo set up. ( After car is already on stands)
