I could easily daily my Evo, but I keep it in the garage. I enjoy keeping it in pristine condition and keeping the miles off. I do drive my evo a lot. Just not to/from work. I used to daily drive my WRX with an unsprung 6 puck and a dogbox trans. That was fun in traffic. lol

My '11 MR is my DD for me. Exact reason as to why i opted for the MR and its SST tranny. Makes the commute...or traffic a little more livable.
ah crud....posted in wrong evo forum. ah well...still an evo.

my first EVO (IX MR bought brand new at the end of 2005) was used as my DD for almost 6 years. never had a single issue with it. I drove it hard, and autocrossed it every chance I got. I sold it with 180,000 miles on it, and the new owner is still using it as his DD with zero issues.

This guys thread is an inspiration to DD my Evo again: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...es-my-evo.html
The way I break it down is by the cost of driving to work.
Evo
*17-22 MPG depending on my foot, 270-300 miles until empty light comes on, this comes to around $50-55 every 3-4 days
* oil changes every 3k miles, will park it until that oil is changed if I don't have time
* anywhere from $500-$800 worth of tire every year or so when daily driven, roads here suck so I end up getting an alignment every other month 'cause I refuse to have my Evo handle like crap, when not daily driven I have the option of avoiding crappy roads and only driving the fun ones
* lots of dumb drivers out on my commute, there's at least 2 accidents every night on the way home from work and some nights getting to 4 accidents, mind you this is only 25 miles one way, I don't want my Evo killed that way
CRX
* $35 fill up every week, 37+MPG, no empty light so I wait until it goes from full to empty, this puts it at 350+ miles per tank
* $200 tires
* I changed the oil once since I bought it, usually I just top it off 'cause I don't care about this car
* In the year I owned it I had to replace the brake master cylinder and oil pan myself with brand new parts, costs less than maintaining my Evo, alignment with Ground Control/Koni suspension still costs less than my Evo
Once I live closer to work I can get rid of my crappy CRX and then DD my bicycle and bring my Evo whenever I feel like.

Got my car on August 6th, 2009 with 46k miles on it. When I parked my car at work today I had right around 83300 miles on it and it has been nothing but reliable. I had to change the stock clutch a few weeks after I got it since I learned stick in it (having to essentially launch the car to get it going didnt help out too much lol). Also had to change the bald tires right around that time as well. Other than doing those things the car couldn't have been more reliable. I have the basic maintenance done and it runs just as well as it did the day I got it. I should also mention that I've taken my car off-roading (beat the crap out of twice on a dry lake bed) and launched it easily 100+ times. I love this car and I don't think I'll ever find another car that gives me the feeling this one does.

My Daily Driver is a civic since my commute is almost 100miles round trip, I couldn't bare to put that many miles on any other car beside a beater. If my commute was short I would DD a Evo.

I bought my Evo specifically to DD..To replace the motor is cheap and the car has 4 door's and is really comfortable!
Plus it get's good gas mileage
I try not to drive it in the rain or snow because of rust and salt on the road's, Have other car's for that..But if i have too i don't sweat it
