Evo 1 problem

I have an evo 1 which has a problem i cant figure out!!
The car starts and runs fine until you start to put your foot down and then it seems like it wants to go but it doesnt, when you put your foot flat to the board either at a standstill or driving it, it just seems to not want to boost properly! Its as if its trying to but not being able to if you get what i mean.LOL
I have done a boost leak test bt all good there, put new iridium plugs and magnecor leads but still no difference!
Anyone any ideas?

Try to be a little more specific if you can. Is the car making any noise, hesitations, etc?

Yes sorry mate, the only noise you can hear when you floor the pedal is sort of a vacuum cleaner type of sucking noise with the occassional sort of a firing sound ( meanning when an engine fires)
Cheers

Is the engine making any racket - bad lifters? These older cars had knock sensors that did not discriminate much - about any sound would pull the timing advance.

Pull the intake off and check the compressor wheel, sounds similar to mine when the compressor nut backed off and munched the compressor up resulting in this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbPR_UoS36A
