smoother shifting less drive train noise oil review
I just want to say up front that I am in no way tied with amsoil I don't know anyone that works for them nor do i work for them. I read through a ton of postings on wich oils to use for the tranny tc and rear diff and I couldnt really find anyone that posted something negative about amsoil , some said only use diaqueen some say they like redline or this or that but after going through many posts and reading on other sites I decided to go with amsoil I changed all my fluids from oem to amsoil. All i can say is I wish i did this a long time ago the drivetrain is a tad less noisey but it just shifts so smooth now even when its fully cold it shifts smoother, before i would get lock out at times and couldnt go into like first gear unless i was at a dead stop now it just slides right it no problem. Anways I just making this review to help others cause it took me a while to figure out what oil to go with so far amsoil gets 2 thumbs up here shifting like butter.

I lent my brother my EVO and he decided to do me a favor and change the transmission fluid. He put in motomaster fluid, and dear god what a difference. Every shift feels crunchy, and maybe it's just me, but I find I've been missing a lot more shifts.
As far as I'm concerned, he might as well have shat in my transmission. I ordered some amsoil and it's going in while the car is stored.

this was for a 2003 5 speed evo 8 , the 6 speed needs a different oil i believe
For the rear diff and tcase you need severegear 75w90
For the tranny you need MTG GL4 75w90
you neeed just over half qt for each the tcase and rear diff
tranny I believe u need 3 qt but I bought 4 just in case of spilling some I'm not 100% sure how much it took because i had my mechanic do it but I just bought 2 qt of the severgear 75w90 and 4 qt of the mtg gl4 75w90
for people like me having a picture helps lol

I'm not all into this amsoil bandwagon. I think that everyone needs to try out these products before going ***** to the wall and changing every fluid out to amsoil after just reading a few posts on the forums. Nonetheless, I am using Amsoil 10-w30 engine and am testing out the tranny/tcase fluid. I like the engine oil, but I am not too keen on the tranny/tcase. I feel like the shifting is way more notchy, I've developed a fifth gear grind when shifting sometimes, and I've noticed more transmission noise. Bottom line just take what you read with a grain of salt and test something yourself before fully comitting to it.
