I know there are a million threads about oil I was just curious I wanted to run a thicker oil and I was wondering if it would b a bad idea to run 5w50 anyone able to tell me if that's a bad idea? Or what about 10w40

 

I run 20w-50 with no problems. However it doesn't get below 60 deg where I live.

 

10w40 would def be fine, not sure about the the 5w50... Is this the stock block?

Also, it's getting pretty cold here now, u sure you want to run a thicker oil over the winter?

 

Yeah its stock block i need to do a oil change so i was thinking of running the 10w40 i just feel like everything i see says thicker oil is better for our engines

 

I run 5W-30 in winter and I'm not in a freezing environment
