Boosting issue

I've got a greddy electronic boost controller. What happens is every once in a while I'll go to do a pull and build boost and instead of shooting straight to 21-23 psi it will hit like 10 to 12 and stop and It feels like the car hits a "wall" I'm sure because its going rich or something.... But then if I stay in the gas it will slowly build boost through the rpm curve, but way to slowly.... Does this sound like an issue with the ebc solenoid... Or waste gate actuator or something? Only happens once in a while.

Have you done any boost leak testing by hooking a coupler up to the turbo inlet?

Boost leak test first then start troubleshooting other problems.

+1 You need to be 100% your car is hold boost at desired levels, there is a how to and you can make boost test kits yourself for under $10 with parts from local hardware plumbing section.

I had very similar problem with my car only last week and turned out to be fouled spark plugs that were improperly gaped. I was getting misfires that I thought were fuel cuts as car would cut boost and hesitate for split second then pick back up.

Check all your piping, and hoses. As others have stated, boost leak test will help narrow the problem cause.

There's no boost leaks, at least big enough to cause any issues.... I took the vacuum line from the turbo outlet off the ebc solenoid and put it directly on the actuator and the car runs 10 lbs of boost or so just like when the solenoid isnt working right. I'm still not sure if it's in the solenoid though because when i change the percentage on the ebc to like 90% or above it builds 10lbs then when i turn it down to like 85 or 80 it boosts what it should 21-23. Its almost like then only adjustment I have is from about 55% to 85% (10lbs-23lbs) everything else i do makes it boost 10lbs or so..... Ive messed with the settings on it but doesn't seem right to me.... does it sound like the solenoid is bad?

Setting it to 85% can you hit 23PSI without it cutting? Do you still have stock solenoid? If so i would install it to see if you get same behavior. I am not familiar with greddy boost controller, but other models like what I am running AEM TruBoost you have to set waste gate crack pressure which is around 11-11.5 then you set you duty cycles to achieve desired boost. Maybe someone can comment who has experience with your EBC. only reason I bring that up is I had similar issue when I installed mine. I was running on waste gate crack pressure and only boosting till 10-11PSI.
