Red stitching, I'm definitely not a fan of it

Go for the 9, just because of 3 year age difference. Evo's are known to last a while anyway and you might as well get the one that appeals to you the most.

Go for the 06. If you're looking for aesthetics, the IX is what you want. Better looking front end, nicer interior, nicer looking wheels (imo), and it has the newer looking rear bumper that doesn't have altezza taillights.

I just recently purchased an 04 BBY, and find myself wishing i had waited to find a IX. Plus 30-40k miles on the odometer is nothing. The 8k miles on the 03 definitely seems a tad fishy. I would car fax it.

I used to own an rx8, and engine replacements on those cars we're fairly frequent. Then places would advertise the mileage on the engine, and not the car itself. Could be a similar issue?

Regardless, you will be happy with either car.

My mother-in-law works at a dealership, and I'll have her run a CarFax to be sure. But, the dealer selling the BBY '03 is adamant that the car is with original miles. The salesman I spoke to over the phone was saying it's a collector's car... Ha! Who collects Evos these days? I think these cars are meant to be driven!

I almost wish the '06 SE hadn't popped up to make this a difficult decision... Thanks for all the input!!! It seems there are more votes for the '06...... I'm thinking maybe I'll arrange to go check out the SE, and if I think I may still be interested in the '03, make the additional drive from there to check out the '03????

I'm so indecisive! It's a girl thing I'm sure...

Also, yes, aesthetically, the '06 SE wins in every category except one........ color! I do really like the Blue by You... That's the reason I went with Electric Blue when I bought my X, but it didn't glow like the BBY! But, I really loved Lightning Yellow (seems to be either a love or hate with yellow).... Funniest comment ever made to me: "just because your car is yellow like the sun does not mean the world revolves around you!" .......I've since mellowed out, but there might have been some truth to that back then.

I just could not see paying that price for an 03 EVO. I did not like the red EVO color that I bought but it grows on you. I love it now.

I agree.... KBB puts it at $23k , with NADA much lower if you can go by that... My most direct comparison was ana unmodded RR '03 in NY for $23.....?

If you are willing to spend that much money, wait it out. Find an IX that you are going to be happy with. Good deals pop up all the time but you have to be sitting at your computer all the time to find the deal and have cash in hand to buy it.

I would prefer the Electric blue. But that is me.

The 03 bby is sitting on the showroom floor, doors are locked. Its at Porter Ford/Mitsubishi dealer in Newark,DE I live about 20mins from the dealership.Bunch of highway robbers

P.S. I also had an EB '08 X, and it was the dumbest car purchase I've probably ever made.... Too much money on something I didnt' love. I'm a hater of the new Evo's, which makes me very said; as my new car will probably be my last Evo and I'm going to run it forever!
Online

I 100% agree with you,I traded an 06 gg se for an 08 x mr,one of the dumbest moves ever.Im looking for another 8 or 9 also.Get the 9 se

8K mile 03' = track car.

I vote for the newer car with the nicer interior, Mivec, ACD, etc.

Yeah, the IX has way nicer seats than the 8. There is no downsides to getting IX other than the price is a little higher than the 8. Well worth it in the long run.

That 03 was not a track car, I have seen it in person in their showroom. It is in brand new condition. Its a very nice car but I would never pay $25k for it. They had the carfax there in the showroom. The car came from PA and is a 1 owner with all service records on file if I remember correctly.

dont listen to these biased moron 9 owners.... the only thing good going for the 9 is that its GG and it has the nicer front end and its newer, while the BBY is rarer because you rarely see them anymore and the mileage is very low which, to my eyes looks more attractive then just the fact it's a "9" . i would however get a carfax check if that is legit or not.

once again around the same price but thats all on you.
