Loud screech, Wheel bearing or transfer case?
Lately my evo viii has been acting up a bit. First started out with what sounds like the typical wheel bearing noise. I've had one go before in my wrx so I know the sound. I think its in my right front wheel as it goes away when I turn left and take the load off and increases when I turn right and increase the load.
Been happening for a few days, now I've developed another noise. A loud screeching noise and a bit of whine. The loud screeching comes when I go slow and turn/accelerate and when I get on it in 2nd or 3rd. The whine comes and goes, happens in gear and in neutral so i'm not too sure what it could be. Can't really pinpoint where its coming from.
Here is a video playing the sound of the second issue as I'm pretty certain on the wheel bearing. Maybe this is just noise associated with it? Noise comes at the beginning of the first video and then when coasting in neutral in the second is the whine.
Car has 97k on it, trans/diff and transfer case all changed less than 5k ago.

Thanks guys

That screeching sound might be coming from your brakes.
I've had wheel bearings fail on me and they have always had a grinding, whirring sound.
Both front wheel bearings failed on my car around 70k. Passenger side twice.
Have you inspected your brake pads?

I just replaced my brakes like 2 weeks ago. Pads and rotors.
The wheel bearing makes the grinding noise usually. That schreech is different from the normal bad wheel bearing sound.

I played the first vid again and hear the growl. But that screeching, def doesn't sound like a wheel bearing.
The rotor backing plate not making contact with the rotor is it?
EDIT:
For somereason the second vid is only working if I go to the youtube page, but only the sound is working.
The second vid def sounds like it's coming from the transfer case. And I hear the bearing growl more better.

I did take a quick look at my brakes ehen i got to work today. The clip that holds the pads down has a little play.
When I get out tonight ill pull the wheel and check the brakes over. See if that changes anything.
