Opinion and advice buying a car out of state

thats fine if the Washington plates are legally registered to the car..
If you get pulled over and have plates on the car that are not registered to the car.. You can be pretty sure your new car will be getting a ride on a flatbed..
And, YES, you must have proof of insurance.. That is MOST important.

if i were u i would get temp tags. if anything happens, the guy with the plates will get screwed big time, because its registered to him. ie hit and run, robbery, blah blah and someone reports those plates.
get insurance for sure. call ur insurance co and talk to ur DMV. thats what they are there for.

It depends on the state. I believe in NY, the seller can get you transit tags. I know in Nebraska and Iowa, the law is you can drive it without plates as long as u have insurance and bill of sale on hand. Some states won't honor nebraska/iowa rules. Here is the temp tag info for NYS:

Dealer plates always are nice when you have a friend that sells cars. But for sure get insurance before you leave. Even if you don't end up getting the car you can still get car taken back off.
I've never bought a car that wasn't a days trip of driving. It can be made into something enjoyable, just be sure your not going through the stress of driving illegally.

Just to be 100% clear, NOT every state will give you temp tags for a vehicle you do not have the title or bill of sale for, I know because I've tried. In Ohio, that is how it is if you were to pay cash... but if you have a loan the bank will give you the info needed to get temp plates from the BMV. Just FYI for everyone assuming you can get temps.
Normally the seller loans out the plates, especially if you don't need to return the plates back to the BMV... Ohio is good for that.. Maryland DMV is not

keep in mind when purchasing a car from a northern state, because they usually have snow in all those areas, the car might have rust somewhere on the body i would throughly check for that. Also give the car a good test drive, so you know for sure there isn't any mechanical suprizes.
i've never actually never went bought a car out of the state of florida , but pertaining to a tag, contact your insurance im sure they can shed some insight on getting a temporary tag.
Other then good luck with your purchase hopefully its a cherry and not a dud.

Guys I got screwed up big time. God bless that guy. He sold to someone else after i paid 500 dollars of tickets for two. I even got my insurance lined up. Damn it, the mind talks when the eyes see the cash. I waited one month for his answer just to find out this.

A carbon fiber hood, just like an aftermarket BOV on a stock turbo would throw a red flag with me. The cf hood isn't something that you'll see the serious tuners on here jump at. It suggests that the owner didn't do his homework before throwing parts on there. Not a game changer but I would look for other signs of hastily removed mods.
I just read the last post. Take the trip anyway.
Rule of thumb is after you buy a car that is almost the exact one you were looking for, the next day you'll see the exact one with lower miles for less money. As a buyer your greatest weapon is patience.
