The black stuff is carbon deposit. Clean all of it off with carb cleaner. It can make your throttle plate stick.

I have no idea what that yellow crap is. Coolant?

Any ideas for the BISS? It's pretty chewed up, there's no way I can back it out to replace it... Should I try to drill it out or is that even a viable option?

Get some high quality fuel cleaners for the tb and intake manifold, that also cleans intake valves and top of pistons and you will notice a night and day difference in performance

Planning on Seafoaming or something of that nature once I get the car put back together. I'm kind of in the middle of replacing/upgrading a lot of stuff right now and have been running into issues. I've already snapped off a caliper bolt head, and try as I might I couldn't get the damn thing out, so I ordered a used caliper so I can continue with assembly. This was just one of those "since the car is just sitting for now while I work on other stuff I'll check this out too" kind of things.

I'm wondering if I should drill out the BISS and try to reuse the TB -which will need a new gasket, seals, BISS, and possibly other things- or just grab a new aftermartet TB and call it a day.

yellow stuff looks like some type of sealant, and or plumbers putty to me. wonder if previous owner used some crap on it to seal up some pipes or the TB?
I use a similar compound of yellow crap to seal up metal to metal surfaces without gaskets that hold Hot oil on machines.. i said machines not TBs LOL.

ether or starting Fluid will remove that yellow crustyness BTW, if that dont work Toluene works too or Naptha 5

I've got most of the gunk cleaned off the TB at this point. The question now is what I do about the BISS... Has anyone else had this problem? What is that screw made of, plastic? Is it worth rebuilding the TB or should I just buy an S90 or something similar? And most importantly, what are tomorrow's winning lotto numbers?

I've got a replacement TB on the way, it's easier than dealing with rebuilding the old one because I've got other issues to deal with. Namely, a huge leak of some sort from the transfer case area.

This car has been a PITA, but hopefully after I get all these issues sorted out It'll be better...

Soot is from your EGR valve, this is normal, and also why I blocked mine off when I had a IX. IMO, send that TB to Mil.Spec for a rebuild and porting.

Well I got my new throttle body in the mail today! I decided to go with an S90. Picked it up for $140 shipped brand new. Here's a couple pics of it next to the stocker for comparison:

Build quality looks very nice. The only things I have to do different now are looping the coolant lines to each other (since this TB lacks the ports for them), and do something about the two vacuum lines that connect to the top. I'll probably just do an EGR delete, so I shouldn't need them anyway.

Quick update for those wanting to get this or a similar throttle body. It Will NOT fit without doing the EGR delete. The bottom end of the TB is about a half inch too long for it to fit without this mod being done. Which makes sense really, because the EGR vacuum line ports and coolant line ports are not present on this TB.

I haven't installed it yet, because I just did the EGR blockoff yesterday. But
I will post pics and a review this coming weekend after I get it put in.
