Yes you are technically going to waste more gas. Pumps have to get energy from something to run... The more power you draw, the higher the resisting torque on the alternator.

LOL maybe 0.015 less mpg from the added strain on the alternator

The one part of the equation not discussed is if the second and third pumps are on a Hobbs switch or not. They very well may not even be turning on at all. With an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, it will be able to control the fuel pressure pending your return line is large enough back to the tank. However the part of the equation not brought up that is the effect three fuel pumps has on the temperature of the fuel. Surely if all three are running all the time, the fuel temperature will heat up and make the fueling system less efficient, and may affect gas mileage as the fuel temp increases.

He's probably got 3 pumps on stock injectors because the previous owner parted the car before he got rid of it...

Whether its a lot of work or worth it is in the eye of the beholder, my opinion though If I were u I'd wanna know how it was routed and wired so I'd just redo it. I have fun working and modding my cars so it never seems like work to me.

Unless that was a dedicated drag car I can;t see why a street driven vehicle would need 3 pumps.

Simplify it all. Go back down to one pump (or for heaven's sake just 2). And take the car to a tuner and make sure the injectors are scaled properly
