I live in GA. Most of my commutes are on the highway. No ill effect for the past 3.5 years. I clean my engine bay maybe 2-3 times a month, not really dirty. However, during the winter time when it snow D.O.T seems to get carried away with salts as GA doesn't get winter storms often.

If you live up north benefits might be:
- Less rust
- Cleaner engine bay
- Cleaner air for intake

Back when my '03 Evo was new I first encountered the project that is the removal of the undertray. So, right away, I got a beatrush. In other words that thing has been on the car a long time.

Now, when I look under the car, I see grooves in the aluminum and the rear panel is custom fitted to the car by having been pounded against the underside of the engine compartment. Other than showing this abuse, the thing is fine.

What would that plastic piece of junk undertray look like after this same use? What would the underside of the car look like without the beatrush?

i hate the damn thing. buts its supposed direct air flow to certain parts of the car. id say take it off its all busted up (like most are), but keep it on if its in good shape(not sagging/ all clips on)

The undertray does a couple of things
1) helps aero for fuel economy, not something that you'll likely be able to measure by yourself because simply you don't have the correct tools... OEMs measure fuel economy down to the 0.1mpg
2) there are aero deflectors to direct air flow to the brake 'ducts' if you could even call them that lol
3) It protects splash etc from entering into the engine bay.. this will improve corrosion performance.... something you may not notice from day to day but I promise you if you did an accelerated corrosion tests which all OEM's do, you'll surely see a major difference with and without the undertray.

I have it off now because i still have work to do on it. Its a hassle to take it off and put it back on. But i suggest keeping it on it also keeps the lip stable, one side of my front lip was hanging lil bit.

The main center piece is $163 while the corner pieces range between $50 to 60 here at the local dealership.

For an aftermarket aluminum undertray, obviously it keeps your engine bay clean, and It helps draw air through the bay better for cooler bay temps. The thing is aluminum, and probably weighs 5 lbs. Im glad I have mine.

Only Con is having to take it off anytime you do anything under the car. An extra 2 minutes to job.

mine doesnt have one either and I am about to make one out of a sheet of aluminum and use differnet mounting screws. its a piece of cake, I am surprised there is not a how-to already.

the stock one takes forever to install and remove.
