Glove box latch

Hello ...

It looks like the latch to open my glove box is broken, when I lift the handle it does not release to open it. I wanted to know if there is a way to release the latch from the outside without prying it open and damaging the glove box?

Not positive without looking at it, but I would wager that there's a little lever underneath the lift latch that that particular latch actually activates. You can probably just push/pull on that and it should just pop right open?

Basically... you're activating the mechanism without using the lever. Make sense?

Looks like I am going to have to pry open the box and replace the parts that I break. I wanted to know if anyone with an Evo 8 would be willing to take a picture of hook that is mounted on the inside to see how its mounted. I am debating if I want the cut thru the hook or if I am to break the lever attached to the glove box.

Ok, so the little bump in the middle is what is holding on to the hook inside. On eiher side here is a hole ha goes straight ouside the glove box, under he latch. What you have to do is get a wire or something and bend i a 90 degrees push it in the hole and ry and push down on the latch.

Good luck!

You should be able to pick this no problem without hacking up your glove box.

Did you get upside down in your car and look at the actual mechanism like I suggested?
