Hey everyone my dad just picked up an 03 Evo but didnt get the owners manual with it. Anywhere I can find an online version? His main question is what are the 2 buttons by the center console 1 says AUTO the other says MAN. Impressive car and we're slowly learning about it. Thanks for the help.

 

It is for the intercooler sprayer, One make it automatic which is controlled by the Ecu somehow.Manual is so you control how much spray you need.

 

Not sure where to find an online manual, but this is the intercooler sprayer button. It serves to spray the Front mount intercooler (FMIC) with water or winshield washer fluid to cool the intake air. Auto and manual do just what they imply.

 

Call the dealer and have them get you one. I received the standard Lancer Owners Manual, just gave my saleguy a call and he is getting me the correct one.

 

Thanks guys. Dealership contacted the previous owner and will have the manual in a day or 2. I'm buying his 98 Talon Tsi. I'll play around with that for awhile then someday upgrade to the Evo

On auto does it just spray above a certain rpm or engine load or does it just spray every 5 seconds until the bottle is empty? Does it have a separate water bottle like the STi? Thanks.

 

LDB: It sprays when the ECU thinks it's necessary. I think it's 2 second bursts every 5 seconds, but only if intake charge temps are a certain level, car speed is a certain level, etc.

The water bottle is separate. It's in the engine bay where you'd normally find a washer fuild bottle. The bottle for the front and rear windshield washers is in the trunk tucked behind one of the trunk panels.
