Rear-Ended, need some advice on how to handle the situation!
Hey EvoM, haven't been on in a while!
I have a Evo IX MR, have had it for about five years and two days ago, I was at a stoplight and the car behind me (03 Impala) got rammed by a girl in a Ford Escape at about 35 to 40 mph.
Although I had the least amount of damage in this situation, from the outset it just looked like heavy rear bumper damage and some exhaust damage, when I was driving home, when I was going through the gears, I felt my transmission seizing up, and my rear tires feeling a little squirmy, and the sound was like a steam train screeching into a station. Needless to say I told the girl's insurance company, GEICO, to pick up the car and take it to the dealership, and now I am in the process of getting the parts for my car.
Now I know that it is possible to get the JDM IX bumper to substitute for the USDM one when they replace it, and I gave him the diagram and part numbers, but now they want the JDM crash bar's part number as well...I will keep digging for it but if someones knows off the top of their head that would be great, btw my car is Tarmac Black.
And if anyone has gotten rear ended and felt the same transmission problems, please share your story! Although I am not paying for any of this, I just hope I can still drive my car, cause I want to keep it forever...It just felt like my flywheel was spinning off, and the Adjuster and the claims specialist at the Chevy Dealership where my car is getting looked at said they'd take a look at it on Monday...I just hope they don't try to give me back my car with a damaged transmission.
Thanks in advance for all the advice and I am going to upload some damage pics within the next couple of mins.

Females in SUVs drive like they in monster trucks and on the damn roads lol. I got minor t-boned (passenger rear door) by a female backing out of a parking spot in a small parking lot on the gas! I was like wtf and she was like I'm so sorry, I was in a hurry because I have to go pick up my kids from blah blah blah, and all I could think about was bi*ch (no offense to any ladies but that was my thought lol) why are you backing out the parking spot on 70-80% throttle?!? BTW, I got some extra mods from that incident lol. Rule of thumb, always find a way to upgrade from an accident .

+1 when i got rear ended last year all i could think was god please dont let it be totalled and never thought of going jdm rear. I actually had the geico guy tell me it was probably going to be totalled then call me up 2 days later and apologize because he didnt know how much these things were worth lol. I never had the tranny problems you described but with geico if somethings not perfect when its done theyll fix it. I had a really good experience dealing with them hopefully you have the same. Good luck!
