How Many 03's Are Left?
#376
191,000 miles, Original owner.
I bought the first Evo sold at El Cerrito Mitsubishi (now defunct), and one of the first sold in the whole SF region. I watched it sit in the window for about two months at their ridiculous markup before I walked in and made em an offer.
I didn't look through this whole thread, but I'm guessing I've still got one of the higher milage Evo's around. I beat the crap outta this car for the first 4 years I owned it; 25k per year, and I only drove about 30mi/day for work. I stopped tracking it when I hit 100k in '07, but it's been my daily driver for ten years this month, and no major problems at all. Friggin warhorse.
Issues? The usual with this year- airbox death/temp dial snappage, front end strut clunk, etc. I also have one of a few cars that eat starters- they die every 40k. I'm 30k into my 5th one, so I'm about due. Whatever.
Replaced the stock clutch awhile back at 161k, the guys at Speed Element couldn't believe it. Said they'd never seen a stock clutch that old before. Go figure. Hills were getting a little iffy by then, though.
03's with 30k? 20k? I'm trying to wrap my head around that...
