A/C purging on highway

A/C purging on highway
So, my car has the notorious compressor on/off issue, most likely needs the shim adjusted. (which is on order and didn't come in before my trip... damn you mitsparts.net)
So it was like 95F on my way home so I really had to use the A/C regardless of it being a pain in the ***, works ok on pure driving but than I got stuck in some traffic and it really works the compressor..... what happened is after a while the purge valve on the compressor opened and shot refrigerant out the vent on my hood... anyone know why it would of done that? ... this is the second time its done that now, doesn't seem likely the system could of been over filled.

Notorious on/off compressor issue? They do cycle under normal operation. Sounds like you have an electrical issue and the compressor is not shutting off when its supposed to causing extreme pressure in your a/c system hence the blow off. You have a bad pressure switch and its not opening when it supposed to to kill your a/c or your compressor clutch is sticking on. My guesses.

Thanks for your input... I haven't got to do anything with is hence my delay...
There are many threads about the shim issue off the A/C clutch... this morning I found mine was out of spec, fixed it with the shim kit to the Min 0.012" spec...
After, AC ran awesome for a good solid 10 mins, everything worked fine, cold air, AC fan pumping no problems...... but than once again after 10mins or so the compressor clutch will kick on and off every 6 seconds or so.... fan not running, no more hot air.
Curious what my problem is, high pressure switch? Fan controller?
I'm going to let everything cool down for a few hrs and try it again and see if it does the exact same thing.
I should add after searching (alot).... I did try to fill the system with the gauge you get from autozone... said it was low... but someone did the same thing and said their system needed some to be released... did I over fill this thing?

So another update..... everything cooled off, the system is NOT overfilled (according to the gauge)... Everything worked once again no problem, AC temps went down to 55F in the vent, clutch works, fan works, compressor works... then again.... clutch turns off and the temps rise, compressor clicks on and off ~ every 10 seconds no more cold air, temps rise to 70+F ????
Switches?

FIXED....
Remember when I said the system wasn't over filled.... I was wrong, the POS gauge that comes with the AC recharge is terrible, even on the "low" pressure side of the gauge was actually still over filling the system.
Now it works like a charm, compressor stays on, fans come on and stay on, cycles as it should.
