Buddy gave me a turbo, help identify
So my buddy had a turbo which he claims is a 20g that he bought from a company which he cannot remember (this was 4-5 years ago). It's been sitting in his basement for a while and I can't figure out if its a regular 16g or 20g.
The marks on the turbo say TD05HR 16g6-10.5T, which to my knowledge is the 10.5 hotside evo 8 16g. The only way it could be a 20g is if it had a 20g wheel put in?
Is there anyway to confirm this for sure before i take the time to put it on my car. Did a company even sell a turbo marked as a 16g with a 6 blade 20g compressor wheel put in it?
(currently a evo 8 16g with a 9.8 hotside)

Take the compressor cover off and measure the small diameter of the wheel. I currently have a IX turbo with a 20g wheel and I built one for a friend in an 8 turbo as well. A 20G is like 52.8mm vs 49mm for a 16G.

He also mentioned he had a FP 18 psi wastegate actuator put on, I'm fairly sure this is correct just by the color of the piece vs the color of the stock one on my car now. Can anyone shed some light from the photos?

That looks just like my mystery turbo in my thread in the engine/turbo/drivetrain subforum. Apparently it is an evo9 20G-6blade turbo. Mine runs good but I never ran a stock 9 on my car to know how it compares. Some say a stock 9 is better but my car runs great. I may swap my stock 9 on this weekend just to see if it is any better or worse.
