Oiled-Dirt-to-Tarmac-Understeer! Jeez!
So I was on a back road which was dirt but heavily oiled. I made the observation that the road was too smooth for a rarely traveled dirt road. Being so empty, I couldn't help but stop several times and dump some hard launches. FUN! The Evo just bites so great!
So then I rolled to the end of the dirt road and stopped at the stop sign. I prepared for a right hand turn and waited for traffic to clear. The road I'm about to enter is dry asphalt. Why not? Let's give it another hard launch.
Crap. This wasn't planned for. I drop the clutch at about 4K. As I hit the pavement, the oil picked up from the dirt road makes me slide like I'm on roller skates! The car understeers to the right and then left TWICE in BOTH directions before I can bring it straight and narrow. HOLY CRAP!
I've never experienced such poor handling! I was scared that a cop would see me sliding back and forth! Fortunately I barely left my lane and never got close to another car, but let me tell you, I was leaving some burnt-up oil debris/smell behind me. Anyone else been in this situation?

i agree that he, we, everyone needs to be careful but i hate seeing people get attacked for sharing experiences. thats why a lot of people are affraid to post. if everyone was affraid to post then none of us will learn anything from this or any forum. i think he learned his lesson well before he posted. peace to all!

So lemme get this straight...you slather up the tires on an oily dirt road, hit the tarmac to hard causing oversteer, and somehow its poor handling...plain ignorant driving
