Help my evo died driving on the highway and will not start

I just had to tow my car for the first time I was driving on the highway in 5 gear and my engine shut off like someone turne the key off. The car has been driving normal all day it didn't even make a noise or anything. When I pulled over on the shoulder I tried to re start it but it just cranked over didnt start. Now it's not even cranking almost like a dead battery but it shows 12.5volts it's a 2004 evo if anyone has had something like this happen or know what it could be please help.
I just changed the cam position sensor hoping that helps but its not going to help the cranking issue.

Check your basics fuel pressure and ignition as for the battery you already drained it trying to start the car, do you have a mini or regular battery ?

this happened to me. Did you hear any noises? tapping? what did it sound like when you turned it over? did it sound like it had no compression?

in my case, it was a busted balance shaft belt. It took out my timing, resulting in a head rebuild.

Good luck!

This happened to me yesterday! Check your 40A ignition fuse in your engine bay fuse box.

id say your its possible your alternator went bad. check your injector resistor pack and make sure everything is connected. do a compression test just to be sure but it sounds like a power issue to me.

you only need 3 things to start a car... Fuel, ignition, and compression.

Test those 3 things, find out which one you don't have, and that will put you down the right path.

Start with the basics, and go from there.

i have fuel pressure when cranking, i have a guage on my fpr. its a regular battery its on a charger now. it back fired a couple times when tryingto re start.

the car did seem like it was cranking over easier than normal like low compression but it made no noise at all it was like someone turned the key off while driving. all timing parts were replaced no more than 10k miles ago with cams and valve springs. i was driving normal all day no racing.

Sounds like something mechanical timing... timing belt slipped a tooth or the like. If it is backfiring, the ignition event is not happening at the correct time.

What scares me is this line:

the car did seem like it was cranking over easier than normal like low compression
check your timing belt

Ouch...

if there is contact being made now, there was probably contact under load....

Put it back to the correct timing, and try for the best... then look into a full rebuild and hope you didn't damage the head.

take it out of gear and do it again...
