Late spool after engine build

Hello ...

I recently installed a build Evo 8 engine because by stock one throw a rod. *I had a FP Red on the stock engine when the rod broke. *I wanted to know if there was a possibility that the turbo got damaged when the engine got damaged? *I ask because the turbo was spooling at 4k rpm with the stock engine @ 23psi and now it spools at 5.2k rpm with the build engine. *I checked the timing and I did a boost leak test to see if that was affecting the spool. *But again I just wanted to ask if the spooling issue is due to the turbo being bad. I understand that a bigger turbo is going to cause lag.

@4k rpm spool
Stock engine
FP Red
Rc 1000cc injectors
Aem fuel rail
Stock IC & piping
Amsoil air filter

@ 5.2 rpm spool
2.0 engine
Eagle rods
Wiesco 9.0:1 pistons
Super tech springs and retainers
Bc 272 cams
FP Red
Stock IC and Piping
RC 1000cc injectors
Aem fuel rail
Amsoil air filter

Thanks.

What failed on the engine? A buddy off mine had a ringland crack and pieces went through the titbo and damaged the exhaust wheel on the way through.

Either chewed up your turbine wheel or your engine is out of time and cams are either advanced or retarded.

Easiest thing you can do with a failure like that is send it to FP. It's cheap and they will pull the whole thing apart, check shaft play, spec it all out, and tell you if you have any issues. They will pick up on anything wrong with it vs having to guess. While it isn't the easiest route to pull the kit and have your car down it's much better than some metal making its way to the turbo then back to your new engine...although at this point it's a little late but still wise to send it in to have them look at it.
