Fake Defi gauge

Fake Defi gauge
bought a gauge off ebay. no indication from seller the gauge was not genuine Defi. even clearly stated in bold letters that gauge will not work with out the control unit which is not included. this information is incorrect. the fake gauges work with out the controller as a standalone gauge.

at first appearance the gauge appears genuine. it is indeed a VERY good copy, looking at the face. but on close inspection the gauge has many small differences.
1. fake gauge face is diffeferent shade. fake gauge is slightly grey. you would need to see them side by side to tell the difference.
2. the plugs on back are dead giveaway. fake gauge has four plugs. real Defi has three. the forth plug is used to power gauge directly. real Defi is powered through the controll unit.
3. the small sticker on back of Defi gauge is not on the fake gauge.
4. look closely the circuit boards are green on genuine defi. the fake has a white citcuit board.
5. the directions are dead givaway. no atempt is made to copy Defi instructions. real instructions dont work anyway. the gauge wires up differently.
6. box looks to be direct copy, or maybe its actually real. but the one I got has no sticker that denotes what gauge (and part number) you are getting.
7. sensors are different. fake does not have "defi" printed on it. has pink plug for wire harness. Defi sensor is wired directly inside sensor.

My buddy was in the market for DEFI Boost Gauge, while previously owning a DEFI Boost Gauge, he got the images from the prospect seller, and actually told him: These aren't real DEFI Gauges, the guy selling it didn't even know, and said he bought it and though it was DEFI, but just to keep in mind, they are out there.

Thanks for the heads-up. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
I run STRI gauges anyway, high quality Taiwanese (Taiwan? Yes, where your iPhone was made) electronics and about 1/3 the price of DEFI gauges.

OP can't you report this to ebay and get your money back?
I think ebay will back you up if the item sold does not match the listing. I might be wrong in this, but IIRC that was about the only sale ebay will legitimately back you up on?
It says the part is located in Lompoc, Ca. which is a lie. Looking at the parcel, it's clear to see that it shipped from China. Personally, I would file a formal grievance with ebay to shut that seller down. This guy is clearly slanging knock-offs as legitimate DEFI units.

Selling fake items, but has a 100% positive feeback. You may have been the only guy to notice it was fake. Unless he sells real items too. Either way, bad luck man. File a complaint.
