Bolt sizes

I noticed when I was working on my car that one of the previous owners lost some of the factory bolts and just used random bolts or no bolts. How do I find out what size bolts I need and is there a place that sells the stock bolts?

As far as I know; this situation sucks. Either get more specific in your request or get a slim tape measure and some SAE and metric thread gauges. Besides that go to the dealership and request those parts/bolts and hopefully they will give you some paperwork as you walk away from their inflated prices and search those parts later.

Buy yourself an assortment nut/bolt set in metric (Can be found dirt cheap at any auto parts store or Sears). Trial and error. Just be sure to only install with your fingers so you don't risk stripping or crossthreading any threads.

I know on my other cars I bought the shop manual and it told you haw to do everything and it had every part listed in the book, but I'm having a hard time finding a good shop manual for my EVO! Here is the one that I use right now:

EVO Shop Manual

Maybe it's just me, but this manual is all over the place and doesn't really list some important things, i.e. bolt sizes, fluid capacity, among other things.

If you know of a better manual, please let me know.

6mm-1.0 x 18mm
6mm -1.0 x 25mm
6mm-1.0 x 14mm
8mm -1.25 x 20mm
8mm -1.25 x 25mm
8mm -1.25 x 16mm
