***Evo VIII head gasket***

Hey guys,

The head gasket in my evo 8 is starting to go. I have a garage that is going to replace the gasket for me.

Is there anything else you guys would recommend me doing while i am getting the head gasket replaced as well??

Cheers

I've heard a lot of people to put in ARP head studs but may i ask you why?

The timing belt was done however the water pump was not changed nor the tensioners?

I think i won't upgrade the cams just yet, i was thinking to in the future though.

Head studs keep your head gasket from blowing from high boost. If there's any possibility you'll do cams in the future, just do it now. Why would you change the timing belt and nothing else? That's not good thinking.

Get back in there and take care of the full timing belt service. Just not good thinking to only do the timing belt.

If cams are in your budget, now would be a good time to do this along with cam gears...

You and/or the shop are probably already doing this but don't forget about a new exhaust gasket and new intake gasket.

Unless You're planning on making super huge power, I would say cam gears are just for looks. Met people that have them leave the setting at zero anyway.

Timing belt, tensioner, water pump and ARP head studs. Preventative maintenance and stronger parts give you peace of mind.

This. If your tbelt breaks or the tensioner gives out and your timing belt jumps you run the risk of blowing up your entire motor.

Waterpump because it is right there, and spend the couple bucks now while you won't have to pay for the labor rate down the road if it gives out.
