Removing AC? How to reduce pressure?

Im thinking about removing AC. I have never done this before and need some tips.

1. whats the best way to release the pressure inside ac lines?
2. whats the easiest removal route? ac clutch first? then radiator, condenser, etc? is there a how to because i cant find one
3. block off plate that is usually offered in ac delete kit. where does this go and is this necessary?
4. does my defog not work if the condenser got removed?

thanks for the help!

there's a special device you need to use to abide by EPA rules for depleting the ac system. Not sure what its called, I didn't use it hahaha.

so if you dont use the device, can you simply start disconnecting the system? would there be excess pressure that i would need to be worried about?

Im sure any shop would just evacuate your system for not much of a fee. Your bascially giving them some free R134A. It only takes just a few minutes for it to recover.

IIRC, the way I did mine after recovering the refrigerant was to remove the lines, then the compressor and bracket. I didnt have to remove the radiator until I deleted the condensor and a/c fans.

Be careful doing that. Not only will you release stuff into the air that the EPA will hate you for but the refrigerant is pressurized and really cold! You can freeze your skin or worse depending on what part of your body the refirgerant sprays on, hope its not your eyes.

Don't be a knuckle head and release the gas into the atmosphere. Take an hour out of your life and just hit up a local mechanics shop, and have them drain the system.

Yeah I agree. Take it to a shop. Not worth the trouble. Plus there might be an EPA agent hiding in the bushes! Red team go, red team go!!!

Drive to Mexico and slice the hose with a razor knife.

I'm guessing a shop will charge >$20.

They charged me $20-$30 for getting rid of mine. It's not too expensive and much cheaper than buying all the equipment.

4) correct your defog will not work properly without A/C. Cool humid days will fog the crap out of your windshield. Most of the times you can get away with it, I have not had A/C in my other car for like 8 yrs. (sometimes its annoying though)

If you were to do it yourself(just saying) take off the small blue cap and there is a center pin just like a tire, if you put pressure on it with a screw driver or other item it will release the refrigerant. But to be safe I would take it to a shop.

Take it to a shop!? F*^k that next thing you know they're gonna tell you not to dump your oil in the storm drain.

What's the benefit of removing your ac besides the weight savings?

very witty!

1 one of the biggest weight saving you can do
2 always good to get weight off the front of the car
3 cleans up the engine bay
4 and you can list it in your mod list
