how does the ac come off from the firewall? i see a small bracket held on by allen key. do i simply take the bolt off and slide the bracket off? what about the hole thats left on the firewall?

Aluminum tape is what I usually use for that purpose.

 

Once you have recovered the refrigerant and nothing is in the lines you can proceed to open the system up. You just loosen that bolt, make sure the line has slack so you can move it out, then just pull straight out. STM sells the oem 'sticker', I ended up using something more heavy duty, a felt pad I had, to cover it up. Make sure you remove that bracket before you attempt to put the tape over the firweall though.
