I'm sorry; this makes no sense. You had a modded VIII that you took to a level beyond basic boltons, but after driving a frucking +2 ton SUV realized the VIII felt worse? How is this even possible, unless you're not a high-performance guy to begin with? I'm not saying this as an insult. It's the truth of it.

8's/9's are just starting to look outdated at this point, and as much as they are amazing cars, you have to move on with the times.
So, every drive of a lifetime produced, say, before MY2000 is a wash, because there's something more comfy to be had. This is a forum dedicated to one of the highest performance machines every produced by mankind. With all this in mind, what in the world makes you think you're talking to the right audience?

- The interior on a X feels better (Still cheap, but it also Looks better)
- Seats are better on a X
- Mod for Mod it makes more power.

Only thing I would think about if I was you is that if your goals are over 450whp.. stick with the 9.. The stock Engine on the X is perfect if you keep it around 425whp/375wtq.

Also the two cars are VERY VERY different, Drive a modded X and you will see why. The 9 gave a Pure Torque rush and you feel the kick more, while the X is more linear on the power.

Styling goes to the X, even though I think evo 9 stands out more.

In the end.. This is all My Opinion, I am not trying to raise a war over the two cars with anyone as they are both absolutely Awesome machines and I would love to own both.

Oh another factor I considered was Safety... the X is WAY WAY safer in case of impact.
I think this is a very valid post when considering one vs. another for a DD. My drive to work is all back roads and a short trip, so the "raw" factor wouldn't concern me all too much if I did daily my IX. However if I had a longer trip and some highway miles, I would want something a little quieter, comfortable, and importantly safer (which is something important to consider).

If I didn't keep mine locked up in the garage most of the time, I could see myself trying to get into a X instead. But as a weekend warrior (and one that I hope--perhaps a pipe dream--increases in value over the years), the IX is the one that I am sticking with.

If you want to make a switch to the X and think it will suit you well, go for it. If you hope to mod it to hell and back, I don't think that it's worth it.

Yes, I had a modded 8 and after just realizing how nice a newer japanese car was, stepping into the 8 felt like you're getting into a beater car. From the feel of the interior, to the outdated look of the car. Performance wise the 8's/9's are amazing, and probably the best bang for the buck you can get nowadays. However, no matter what you think of the 8/9/X, the X is 100% an upgrade over the 8/9. Mitsubishi invested millions to make the X more powerful, handle better with s-awc, and safer. It may be a hair slower than the 9 in the quarter, but mod for mod it'll produce the same power, deliver it smoother, and do it in better style.

Well I'm talking to an Evo crowd, about the newest Evo. It's pretty relevant if you ask me.

Yes, a luxury car does have a more compliant interior. Shocking. How does this negate my assertion?

That's like watching a few cooking shows, buying a set of German knives, and then posting a comparison aimed at folks who cook for a living, because they own the same knives. While the latter may be true, the application differs immensely. Discussion forums can only function if folks actually read and respond to what's said. I can repeat my question if you like.

Is this some sort of a showcar metric?

I did! Believe it or not I like the Lancer interior better than the interior on a lot of upper end cars, especially BMW, cannot stand their interiors. To each there own.

I do, too. It's one of the things that attracted me to the car. A big center-mounted tach, switches and knobs that can be counted on one hand, purposeful lines and quality materials, all inputs aimed at the driver - what else does a performance machine need?

With all this talk about the car is starting to look outdated, how so explain?????? why because there are not LEDS or DRL on the front end? as for people complaining about the ****ty interior of the 8s and 9s WAKE UP!! people bought this car for the performance purposes in mind. not to take a nice sunday ride over to starbucks and pick up a latte..

I'm sorry to say it but the comments pertaining to the interior, and what not in this thread, It really makes me think think im on a lexus or other luxury brand forum.... obvisously an evolution wasn't the correct car you should have bought if your worried about creature comforts, LED lights, and A/C seats.....

I don't think the 8/9 looks outdated at all.
