Handles so much sharper than its competitors. There is no DRIVERS CAR with four doors in this price range like the Evo. i live in a tiny town away from anything, and in the first 16000 miles/year Ive owned the car ive only seen 2 other evos in person. Seen 20 sti's.

when i bought mine brand new back in 2005, i bought it because it had the most capabilities for making power, it already came with a good amount of power, and i enjoyed the styling and the ability to throw a few people in the backseat as well as haul grouceries and what not.

I've wanted one ever since I saw the Mäkinen WRC Evo.
Then they came to America and I wanted one, but I was 22, in college, and they were 30k
Then I saw these videos and it piqued my interest again,

Then watched that vid and pretty much drooled over them until I got a decent job, then as soon as my probationary period was over went out and bought mine.

I love both of car look. I honestly didn't care about which is better from stock.
I want the car that realible and that i can enjoy everyday.
Evo did fit everything that i needed. Easy to work on, local evo shop, realible and powerful. After reading many STI guys having issue with ringland it was defi much much easier for me to choose EVO over STI..

Was looking around for a 04-05 WRX everywhere. Autotrader, CLs, everywhere. Then one day, I decided to look up the Evo on Autotrader and found one for $13k. Millage was 108k but those WRXs I saw back then were pretty much the same price back then and had more miles. Decided to jump into the Evo game while I still have a chance with how low the price was. That was back in April 2009. Never bothered looking back at those WRXs or any other car. The feel of driving it was just so much better then the WRXs I drove and it was much MUCH faster than them too.

In a word... modability.
it's easier and cheaper to make a damn near bullet proof super car challenger. Back in the day when Shiv's Evo 8 with 10 grand in mods was competitive with a factory porsche team running a 200,000 dollar car, I was sold.

didnt like the way the sti drives, the evo drives and feels like my honda. i thought it would have been harder because of the awd but its easy and moves/ handles real nice. but dont like turning radius. dont like the tcase issues.
i like the sti's but could never find one priced under 20k. all the ones i've seen are 25k.
chose the evo specifically because my friend sold his to me for 12k. lol the deal sealer right there.

Current STi owner.
Evo's are better for a few reasons
1. Easily make power , Stock internals on the STi are only good for 350~ Reliably.
2. Easier to work on
3. Better block design
4. Better steering response
Downsides of an Evo
1. Weaker transmissions
2. No Subaru rumble (which is technically an engineering defect due to the unequal length headers)
3. Higher center of Gravity
I have also noticed that the 4G63 seems to last longer due to stronger stock internals , Where as the EJ257 seems to spin a bearing or blow a ringland before 100k miles usually.
