Attn: Parents w/evos. (Car seat question).
First things first the wife and I have a baby on the way (high 5!).
We received our Recaro Young Profi Plus infant capsule and Isofix base today (only the best of course).
An assistant in a store (wrongly) assured me that all vehicles manufactured after 2000 have the required fittings to correctly attach the base.
After reading into it a bit NZDM and EUDM vehicles have the isofix fittings but mine is a JDM import. It can be fixed in place with the seatbelt but I'm not so keen so I'm going to get some aftermarket fittings installed (they are available).
The base has two prongs that slide in between the back and the bottom of the back seat and clip onto the fittings.
Do you guys have the isofix fittings?

They are called LATCH in the US, but all USDM evos have them. I would recommend using the seatbelt as the cars seats are tested to meet all safety standards with use of the seatbelt, or see if you can get oem parts for a usdm nzdm or eudm evo, I would not trust anything aftermarket when it comes to the safety of your child and how their car seat is installed into the car, but maybe that's just me

Has this been answered? I am not sure if your cars are different but I have latches on top of the back seat where the speakers are, there is a plastic cover with a picture of a baby seat. There are also hidden loops by the seat belt buckles, peel the bottom cushion back by the seat belt buckles and you should see them. This looks to be where your Isofix attaches to.
Hope this helps.
I have no kids but I take my nieces everywhere.

I would check with Russell @ MitsubishiParts.net and see if the LATCH parts can be bought separate or not. I'm pretty sure they just bolt in behind the rear seat belt parts. If not, just use the seatbelts to hold the car seat in.

i would imagine with mild modifications that the child satefy anchors could be added to the rear package tray. if you look under it from inside the trunk, chances are you will see tacked on nuts located dead center behind each headrest. the anchor system is much safer for a child, and is definitely more secure than a pretensioning 3-point factory belt. also, id recommend using the center, not only so the child is safer, but youll actually have more room for the seat(when reverse facing) and for leg room(when they go forward facing).

First off, congrats on the baby and the Recaro's. My wife and I have 3 Recaro's for our children and they are head over heels better than anything else out there.
The US Child Restraint Requirments vary to those in other states. When our first child was born we looked at a lot of products from the UK and were quite jealous of the products there - they seemed quite a bit more advanced.
How does that infant seat Base Mount? Those seats are not offered to the US Market, nor that style base. I couldnt find a manual online and would love to see photos or a link to the mounting requirments.
I wouldnt touch 'adding' hardware to a car without with a 10' pole though. The risk and liability is too high, but Im willing to assist you with what ever information you need.

Thanks for the response guys.
I have two anchors behind the rear seats but these don't help me in any way. (Just throwing that out there).
As for adding aftermarket latches, that option is available through the NZ Recaro dealer and that conforms with the isofix standard (ISOFIX is the International Standards Organization for child seat safety). I found a post where someone retro fitted one (assuming from an NZDM vehicle into a non NZDM vehicle). Of course I have no intention of doing a DIY job, I'm in the process of contacting our local Recaro dealer to ask what the situation is.
@ Russel: Thanks . The isofix attachment is a bar in the rear seat with two ring (ish looking things) that two prongs of the base attach to. A bar on the front of the base is extended to the floor and supports the base. I found a thread on another evo forum that says the Isofix fittings and Latch fittings are the same, do you sell the OEM latch fittings?
