How to put Steering wheel centered?

So I decided to switch from an evo 9 steering wheel to an 8, just to kinda switch it up and what a PITA to take the bolt off

Anyways I put so much attention into removing the steering wheel that I forgot the orientation of it when I removed it. I had it at an angle to better get to the bolt on the side.

My question is how do I center it? There is a white mark on the shaft but I don't know if that is the center and since my car is currently not running I cant turn it on to find center.

Are there any tricks to this. I'm looking for anyone who knows or has done a steering wheel replacement. Thanks

BTW 9 wheel is in 8/10 condition and will be up for sale soon

I just get my wheels straight, then center the steering wheel on the spline. That's doing it by eye but i've never had an issue.

I cant turn the wheels since the car is not running and I would have assumed that there should only be one way to put it on

Pretty much a trial and error process if you didnt mark it. Either take the wheel back off and eyeball it as previously suggested or you can take the steering shaft loose behind the brake pedal and do it from there.

What do you mean you can't turn the wheel if the car is not running? Slide your steering wheel back on then turn the wheels straight, then re-align the steering wheel.
