Could you imagine catching one of these POS in action?
They are savvy and I'll tell you how.
  1. Tow truck with a creeper. Takes 2 second and gone.
  2. Theif brings own ecu, swaps ecu's, cracks ignition and off he goes.
  3. Theif brings lap top, disables anti theft device, off he goes.
  4. Wheeled onto a flat bed.

^ +1...there are a select few shops in the Chicagoland area that are involved in this type of business but it's better to keep their names out of this site.

Pretty sure I'd f*ck someone up if I caught them molesting my car. Best of luck, but realistically, start looking for another evo

I seem to remember some other nuts@ck posted on here asking how the immobilizer works. Again only one or two previous posts.

Unfortunately it's very hard to defend against the tow truck.
Equip the car with GPS and have text alert if the car moves. Remote detonate ala James Bond. That might deter future thefts.

And then a metal spike shoots through the seat. The new ADS, ****-hole Deterrent System. It would prep them for prison .

At this point, purchase a GPS thumb drive, install it in a safe place with a 12 volt source and a battery back up. Also if you have an alarm, every thief and his mother knows to cut the battery so hid an extra battery. Fuel cut.

End of story but the GPS unit really works well.

That seriously sucks though, I hope you get it back in one piece. I don't live in the city anymore, but if I ever go visit friends or family in Boston I always take a different car. I don't dare drive my car and park it down there.
That was in Indiana but close to Chicago, bout hr or so away
