Unfortunately it's very hard to defend against the tow truck.
Equip the car with GPS and have text alert if the car moves. Remote detonate ala James Bond. That might deter future thefts.

At this point, purchase a GPS thumb drive, install it in a safe place with a 12 volt source and a battery back up. Also if you have an alarm, every thief and his mother knows to cut the battery so hid an extra battery. Fuel cut.
End of story but the GPS unit really works well.

Sucks man. I had a car stolen once. I had a turbo civic years ago when i attended college in NC. Car was gone within 2 days of being there...found the bare shell in Charlotte 2 weeks later.. very bad experience. Thieves are scum.

Wasn't there a chop shop in the Chicago area that was using stolen evos and stolen parts? I think the shop got shut down, but maybe one of his buddies that didn't get caught?
That seriously sucks though, I hope you get it back in one piece. I don't live in the city anymore, but if I ever go visit friends or family in Boston I always take a different car. I don't dare drive my car and park it down there.
