OEM HID ballast

I have just bought a 2006 MR that normally would have the HID's. Unfortunately, the OEM ballast and wiring have been replaced by some cheap aftermarket ones that started to go bad. I am going to put back everything to stock OEM ballasts and wiring but I do not know how the original ones look like and where they are mounted.
Would someone with an MR please post pictures that show where the ballast are mounted and the wiring that comes from the junction box to the headlight themselves.
Thanks a lot for the help

Not sure about the wiring, but the Ballasts are mounted on the bottom of the headlight. If you jack up the front end and look up inside the bumper on either side you should be able to see them. My 8 has aftermarket ballasts as well due to the stockers failing but I did see where the stockers had their own housing.

Thanks for the information.
I am thinking about removing the headlights. They are held by four bolts, do I need to remove the bumper cover to access the one that are not visible?

I havent looked at them, but every Mitsubishi I have EVER worked on always has at least one bolt on the inside of the bumper, requiring you to pull the bumper to pull the headlights.

You need to remove the front bumper. Take out the headlights completely. The stock HID ballast is mounted below the headlight.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. I have just purchased used ballasts and the wiring harness and I am planning on installing them during the X-mas break.

I have a jdm evo 7 that was fitted with xenon lights & came to Australia removed, even the ballast. I went and bought hid kit that includes ballast. Now my concern is I don't think evo 7-9 jdm came with washers... Even though from factory they came with xenon hid headlights!! In Australia it requires washers, does it or do I have to put washers?
